cannot switch user, lightdm seems to freeze

having 2 user accounts

-login with user1
- go to the user panel and click on the second user, the greeter screen appears
- enter the user2 password.

nothing happens and lightdm is unusable. i still can return to user1 session using ctrl-alt-f7

I have a similar problem on 12.04 beta.
Logging out, and then at the login screen, selecting "ubuntu 2D" results in it getting stuck, just showing "logging in ...", but nothing happening. This does not happen if I select "ubuntu 2D" on the first login after boot, or if I select just "ubuntu" on a second login. This problem only occurs when trying to a second (or third ...) time and selecting "ubuntu 2D" and the login screen.

Same problem here as well. Found a temp solution in using GDM. Though Lightdm is much more visually appealing. Hope it gets fixed soon!

Same problem. Very anoying. Attached is my lightdm.log

A workaround is:
- when login is frozen (one can switch selected user with arrows up and down, but can not type or login as any)
- hit ctrl + alt + F7 to get back to user1's session. then switch user from there.

Maybe I've the same bug, when I switch often between 2 users, randomly, the screen goes black (standby) and Ubuntu it's totaly freezed!

p.s. no key works: ctrl + alt + Fx or ctrl + alt + backspace (previously enabled ofc).
