Please attach the SVG file which was edited in Inkscape when taking the screenshot. Was it created in Inskcape?

From the attached file:
<!-- Generator: Adobe Illustrator 15.0.0, SVG Export Plug-In . SVG Version: 6.00 Build 0) -->

The part of the "SVG" file you show in the screenshot of the XML Editor is the proprietary binary code (PGF) which Adobe Illustrator puts into the SVG file (to store its proprietary file format). Inkscape cannot edit those parts, and if the SVG file is later opened again in Adobe Illustrator, Illustrator will ignore edits done in Inkscape and simply load the information stored in its proprietary file format. [1]

Proposing to close as 'Invalid' in Inkscape: the only "editable" part of the SVG file generated by Adobe Illustrator is an embedded bitmap image inside a <switch> tag - there are no vector objects in the file itself (easily verifiable in 'View > Display mode > Outline'). This part of the file displays just fine in the XML Editor (see attached screenshot).

Note: due to
 Bug #499257 in Inkscape: “saves svg file, that it can't read afterwards”
 <https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/499257>
Inkscape won't be able to reopen the SVG file containing exported XMP metadata [2] after it was saved as is in Inkscape just once. But even if you manually remove the <metadata><?xpacket (…) ></metadata> part, there are not vector objects (shapes, paths etc.) in the SVG file which Inkscape could edit.

[1] «Preserve Illustrator Editing Capabilities
    Preserves Illustrator-specific data by embedding an AI file in the SVG file (resulting in a larger file size). Select this option if you plan to reopen and edit the SVG file in Illustrator. Note that if you make manual changes to the SVG data, the changes are not reflected when you reopen the file. This is because Illustrator reads the AI portion of the file, not the SVG portion.»
[2] «Include XMP
    Includes XMP metadata in the SVG file. Choose File > Info or use the Bridge Browser to enter metadata. »
