Bug Description

Just come across issue in 1.40 where group members are editing pages as a team. I tested and was able to add new content by pasting into textbox from word, but when the tutor in the group replaced my test content it all disappeared when she clicked done, leaving just the title of the block. Tutor has regular account permissions, not staff. I've gone in and edited textbox with 2 separate accounts (student and admin rights) and couldn't reproduce issue with those. Students in the group had reported the issue to the tutor as they had experienced exactly the same problem.

Hi Gordon,

I'm not quite sure I understand what you are describing here, but here's my reading of it:

1- Two users are regular members of a group.
2- User A creates a group page with a text block.
3- User B changes the content of the text block.

The expected result of #3 is that the text entered by User A in #2 will disappear and be overwritten by the text entered by User B.

Now, somehow instead of the text entered by User B in #3, the final result after step #3 is an empty text block, is that right?

Changed in mahara:
status: New → Incomplete
importance: Undecided → Medium

Hi Francois,

Yes - what you've described is exactly what happens. Instead of overwriting (or ignoring the edit) all of the content from the textbox - old and new - is removed, leaving just the title of the empty block.

Regards, Gordon.

Update - may be an IE9 compatibility issue. Student pc is on IE9 and tutor reporting issue believes her machine has just been upgraded to that browser. My own pc is on IE8 which may be why I couldn't recreate the problem. Bug filed by someone else yesterday https://bugs.launchpad.net/mahara/+bug/861891 describes a similar issue with IE.
