Bug Description

Hi!
I am using a MSI PR200 with a T8300 and a i965 / X3100 graphics, kubuntu 11.10. Since i've upgraded to 11.04 I encounter problems starting / using kde. An update to the new 11.10 did not change anything, also a newinstalation of 11.10 did not change anything. The symptoms are as follows:
- kdm loads normal
- after login occasionally the kde splash hangs at the "k"
- when I switch to the console (Ctrl + Alt + F1) the keyboard is not responding or giving wrong signs. Sometimes the console gets filled with "^@"
- In case kde gets past the login the CPU usage goes high (>=70%) and the keyboard and kde have a slow response, whilst the mouse cursor acts normal
- To solve the problem I tried disabeling the compositing (switching it totally off, or altering from OpenGL compositing to Xrender) but that has no influence
- Before first login to kde the console and switching to the console behaves normally
- I tried upgrading to the latest 3.1 kernel without success
So far it was not a problem for me (as you can see I did not report the bug for 11.04), as I used to use windows on the laptop but no I need it for Linux programming so I should get it running.
In case I can provide any helpful information (log files) let me know.
Thanks
chris

Christian, can you post Xorg.0.log and .xsession-errors?
Also, can you try 11.04 + kubuntu backports PPA to see is this a regression in KDE or video drivers?

Changed in kde-workspace (Ubuntu):
