Bug Description

I'll explain with an example.
I've an instance of Firefox running and an instance of Synaptic running.

If the focus is on Firefox and when I switch to Synaptic there is a modal dialog, when I close the modal dialog I'll see Synaptic but with the Firefox global menu.
I think the focus is given to the modal dialog, so when this is closed, the focus returns to the previous owner, that is Firefox in this case. Instead it should be given to the window currently on the screen (infact sometimes I close an application while I think I'm closing another one).

I think this happens only with modal dialogs, but I'm unsure.

Note that the same thing happens with other applications, Firefox and Synaptic were only an example.

To reproduce:

Open the preferences dialog in Synaptic. Then alt-tab to firefox. Then alt-tab back to Synaptic. Close the Preferences dialog. Now Firefox has control of the global menu instead of Synaptic.

Yes I can confirm this. With the steps Timothy provided, you will be able to reproduce this.

Now I understand why sometimes when hitting the close button the wrong application quits.

I have a problem like this in wily. Sometimes the global menu is not the menu of the focused window.

This seems to happen when one of the applications if maximized and the focused application isn't.

I've tried with one application maximized and still cannot reproduce this bug. Please add some additional info or a video showing the problem.

yes I can confirm that this is still present in wily. But only manifest if switch applications with the scale plugin + hot corner method and both applications are maximized and use local menu.

Ok. Figured it out. It is my fault. I have been playing with unity-tweak tool and set Window Manager > Additional > Window focus mode to "sloppy", changed back to "click" now it works as before. Sorry for the false alarm.
