mobile-broadband-modem does not auto-connect anymore in Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric

What I expect:
- When selecting the option "connect automatically" in the network-setting for a mobile connection, it should connect automatically, like it has until Ubuntu 11.04.

What happens:
- When I plug in the modem (USB; e.g. "UMTS-Stick"), it appears as available connection, but does not connect;

I don't recall autoconnect for 3G or VPN ever working...

Setting to Confirmed/Wishlist, so that we can get back to the autoconnect issue.

autoconnect for 3G devices worked until update from 11.04 to 11.10…

Confirming the issue in 11.10. There was no issue in 11.04.

It happens the same to me. Yesterday ( Kubuntu 11.04 amd64) autoconnect worked smoothly ... and today (Kubuntu 11.10 amd64) autoconnect does NOT work anymore.
