Bug Description

When writing a mail with thunderbird I often want to attach a file.

I usally do this by going to nautilus and then dragging this file onto the mail composer window.

This is not possible when I start dragging the file onto the unity launcher the Thunderbird icon is greyed out.

I would expected all thunderbird windows comming to the front so i could drop it on the compose window...

When searching for duplicates I found this was asked for just yesterday at http://askubuntu.com/questions/69840/cant-drag-and-drop-a-file-to-attach-in-thunderbird-via-the-unity-dock/69846 ....

Exactly same happened to me.
I expected than when dragging the file to the thunderbird on the launcher would case thunderbird window to show so I can drop the file in it.

I commented on the original bug, but it seems that this bug describes it better as its more generic, because not only the TB is affected but also nautilus and possibly others...

i.e. it doesn't raise all nautilus windows so I can choose where to drop the file but instead, when i release the mouse button it opens a new nautilus window but doesn't drop the file there.

Bug 873167 is only concerned with dragging mails. However, even dragging a picture from nautilus onto the thunderbird launcher is not possible. This is a major bug I think.

BTW this still is not possible in Precise with all updates applied.
