Bug Description

With the USB Ethernet adapter - Linksys USB200M v2.1, chip model ASIX AX88772, the browser on Samsung Origen board can't show any web page.

This is the second part of bug 863451 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/linaro-android/+bug/863451). After the adapter can be recognised and "ping" command can be executed successfully in some specific condition, the ethernet can be considered "basically works".

But unfortunately, from the end user's view, the most important network tool - browser, can't show any web page.

If you want to get all information about the whole story, feel free to go the bug 863451: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linaro-android/+bug/863451

I did some testing using the USB-ethernet.(static IP)

Configured eth0 to static ip thru the GUI.Then also If i do ifconfig eth0 it is not refelecting that IP.netcfg shows eth0 down only.
I restarted the board after the configuration, then also netcfg shows eth0 down only.
I reconfigured with ifconfig eth0 to an IP(ifconfig eth0 inet 10.10.10.27 netmask 255.255.255.0 up). netcfg shows eth0 is up.
    ping 10.10.10.1.....is working
    ping www.google.com Network not reachable
I restarted the board. The ip address to eth0 is reset to 0.0.0.0 automatically.I need to reconfigure again to 10.10.10.27.

Prashanth finally can execute the ping command successfully. The previous failure is caused by the firewall.

I have verified this bug on the 11.11 RC1 with an Apple USB 2.0 Ethernet adapter, model is: A1277, which driver should be AX8817X. The circumstance is as same as previous: command line can be executed successfully but the browser can't open any web page.

On staging-origen build 53, the browser starts to show web pages when using the Apple USB 2.0 Ethernet adapter. However, it's not stable enough, the browser crashed after the web page showed up. Continue to investigate on it.
