Bug Description

It's possible to rebind or disable Unity's Alt-Tab key (through CCSM or gconf-editor), but its Alt-Grave key is hard-coded.

This makes it impossible to use said key with compiz's other window switchers (unless you completely abandon unity shell).

I thought I must just be missing wherever the option lives so I read the source and was surprised to see it getting hard-coded to whatever key is above "Tab". Seems a rather odd choice, since all the other keys get handled the usual way as configurable options.

I can change this key binding in CompizConfig Settings Manager (Unity Plugin -> Switcher) by setting "key to flip through windows in the switcher" and "key to flip through windows in the switcher backwards" to whichever combination I want.

CCSM is NOT a fix for this because the setting is not saved across sessions. It shows as saved in CCSM but it actually isn't; every time I restart I have to go into CCSM, unbind it and then rebind it again if I want to be able to use Alt+Grave for something other than window switching.

Note that there was another bug where changes in CCSM weren't saved across sessions. This seems to be the one setting (that I know of) that wasn't fixed when the fix for that bug went out.

I do not think that it is a duplicate of bug #1113420, it looks like, but it is not. Alt+grave can be reassigned. But it simply does not work. This looks like the bug in the unity Switcher which simply ignores its configuration settings at startup.
