Bug Description

My shiny new laptop has a brand new Oneiric install, root FS is ext4.

It appears that for some reason .config/dconf/user is being rewritten with /exactly/ the same information every minute or so. Unfortunately it appears this pointless rewrite causes an immediate spin-up of the drive for a sync. Which is not ideal, as it (a) hurts battery life and (b) potentially hurts the HD over time.

Happy to debug, just tell me what logs to enable!

When ~/.config/dconf/use is rewritten, it is rewritten with the default.

Therefore any changes made by the user are overwritten, so using the"dconf editor" to change behavior of Unity are discarded. See: http://askubuntu.com/questions/93183/changes-made-by-dconf-tools-are-lost-when-logging-off

This is a show stopper for some unity users and should be marked as important.

Well, recently the changes are not overwritten. However, changes have no effect.
