Bug Description

When I put my laptop to sleep, and then wake it up again, the touchpad is not working. External mouse works though. I need to reboot the computer in order to get the touchpad to work again.

I can recreate this everytime I put the computer to sleep, and I have tried reinstalling with a fresh install of 11.10 64bit and I get the exact same problem.

Hello Lilleman,
Thank you for reporting this bug and help making Ubuntu better. Please try to do the following workaround and see if it fixes it temporarily:
Please put your laptop to sleep, then while your Touchpad is stopped please,
1. Open Terminal by pressing Ctrl+Alt+T
2. Copy the following command:
sudo rmmod psmouse && sudo modprobe psmouse
3. Paste it into Terminal by pressing Ctrl+Shift+V, and press Enter.

Lilleman, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-input-synaptics REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.
