Bug Description
Upgrading to 11.10 from 11.04 has rendered Empathy unusuable for me since Empathy doesn't seem to use system proxy settings anymore, so connections to accounts fail. Other software like Chromium works correctly. I've double checked the proxy settings in System Settings -> Network -> Network proxy and also in dconf -> system -> proxy, and also in gconf-editor -> system -> proxy, and the everything seems correct. I also have the same problem with Pidgin and I've filed bug #878032 about it.

@dabas Empathy never had proxy support by default. So maybe you installed a plugin or something and the upgrade disabled it. If it is so, please tell me how did you get Empathy work with a proxy, so i could do the same.
