Empathy loses all styling after upgrade from 11.04 to 11.10

Upon upgrading from 11.04 to 11.10, empathy is now "unstyled." No balloons, no formatting, it's quite ugly. The only thing that shows up besides plaintext is the avatar images. Others are experiencing the same issue.

please attach the xsession error with it and tell me one thing are you able to reproduce this bug with the guest session?
i think something lost with the upgrade.

There is no Xsession error. And this bug does reproduce in a brand new guest account as well.

Just *opening* the preferences dialog (Edit-menu → Preferences), made styling re-appear.

Oh, nice tip. That worked, thanks! Still though, one shouldn't have to do that. Something is clearly getting trashed in the theme settings upon upgrade to 11.10.
