Got this problem when running checkbox. Otherwise, the USB device works fine.

Were you running checkbox from a bootable USB key?

I marked as medium because I suspect this error happens when you try to run from a USB key (notice how the mount directory is /cdrom/ for a USB device, that's what makes me think so). This would affect enough people potentially to call it medium importance.

Changed in checkbox (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Medium

Daniel: The same issue happened to me too (bug #883488) and I wasn't running it from a USB key.

OK, I'd like confirmation from AJenbo on the following:

1- were you running from a USB bootable stick, or from a hard-disk installation of Ubuntu?

2- What happens if you insert the same USB thumb drive that failed and run this on a terminal:
/usr/share/checkbox/scripts/usb_test -t

3- Could you insert the USB stick and post the output of running this on a terminal:
mount

Thanks!
