Bug Description
I don't know if this is the right place for a feature request for unity dock/launcher. If it isn't, please excuse me, i would appreciate it if you would direct me to the site/forum where i should ask my request..
This is my request:
Thus far i had troubles removing stray icons (DEL doesn't do that, drag and drop to trashcan works sometimes, alacarte menu edit works a lot of times but not always) and the documentation of how to do just that is a bit hard to find.
In the dock/launcher it is possible to add and remove icons/shortcuts.
It would be very convenient if this would also be possible in the menu/lens (activated by the most upper icon in the launcher).....it may be also convenient to be able to lock/unlock this function to prevent accidental deletion of said icons/shortcuts
(adding, of course, with INSERT keystroke or something like that)
This single feature would make the use of the difficult combination of alacarte + drag 'n drop + .desktop-file editing obsolete and would make for a very customizable menu/lens
I hope you can do something with this "proposal", sorry I can't offer you any code or patches....at the moment I do not know anything about the internals of unity.
b.t.w. I love the way that unity is going....keep up the good work and thank you for your time reading this.

Messing around with .desktop files and stuff is not really convienient. ;) It should be possible to edit entries in the launcher/dash from the system settings or by right clicking them and getting a preferences dialogue...
