Bug Description

My Ubuntu 11.10 does not handle volume up/down/mute special keys on Thinkpad X60, brightness up/down works fine.

It did not work on Ubuntu 11.04 either (sorry for the slow report), never tried it on earlier Ubuntu releases.

acpi_listen reports the buttons so i think they just need to be mapped somewhere (up, down, mute):

ibm/hotkey HKEY 00000080 00001015
ibm/hotkey HKEY 00000080 00001016
ibm/hotkey HKEY 00000080 00001017

when you say the keys are not handled, do you mean that they don't have any effect on the volume, or is this referring just to the lack of on-screen notification? The latter is bug #357673. The former would be a kernel or udev bug - acpi-support is not involved in handling these hotkeys.

affects: acpi-support (Ubuntu) → linux (Ubuntu)

Hi Steve, thanks for replying.

You are absolutely correct, the volume is changed in "hardware" but the on-screen display is not shown - neither is the volume indicator changed on the "top menu" or what ever it is called.

And it looks like it is a copy of bug #357673, don't know why my searching didn't find that one, could you mark it as a duplicate - i can not find the duplicate button here on launchpad.
