New instant messages are not always noticable

Bug Description
On Oneiric, it's sometimes very hard to notice if you have received a new message :
-when it's the first message from someone, the enveloppe is turning blue, it's fine, easy to notice (just like in Natty)
-if the chat window is opened, but reduced or not in focus (hidden behind another application for instance), the enveloppe is not turning blue when you receive a new message
So it's very hard to notice there is a new message. It's possible to look at the dash and see that there is a new message (even if the indicator there is very small...), but what if the dash is hidden ? Then you don't notice at all.
We are using a jabber server for our office network here, and all the users of Oneiric complained about this problem, while it's working fine for emails.
