package linux-image-3.0.0-12-generic 3.0.0-12.20 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2

Simply doing an upgrade from 11.04 to 11.10 and am seeing reported errors around grub-pc not installing correctly, friendly-recovery not installing correctly, memtest86+ not installing correctly, and the linux 3.0 kernel not installing correctly. They exist with an error code 2 if i remember the terminal display correctly.
