Bug Description
I am trying to follow the steps that I am given. I really don't understand linux as I am a novice. When I downloaded the latest edition of xubuntu which I believe is named Maverick Meerkat, I restarted my computer when prompted but then my desktop encountered an error. My previous icons had dissapeared and the initial wallpaper vanishes to a grey screen when windows are moved across it. I checked my settings and the wallpaper image still appears to be set the same as before but I have no way of knowing what caused this or how to fix it. I was hoping a new update would fix the problem but it hasn't. I am considering upgrading to the new linux version 'Oneiric Ocelot' as my update manager now shows that it's available in hopes that this may fix the problem. I have found it very diificult to locate the help I need in understanding how to use and optimize my linux software. I don't even understand why I have Xubuntu as opposed to regular Ubuntu or what advantages there are to variuos versions. I don't like how the file system in the new firefox changed from karmic koala to the version I have now. I used to able to save video files from my firefox cache but now I cannot even locate them. The firefox cache system appears to have splits into hundreds of microfolders and is berhaps encoded now. Perhaps you may have advice on this concern as well. I realy don't even know if I am addressing my concerns to the correct forum. I was trying to establish an Xchat IRC client to discuss the main problem through the correct channel at (irc.freenode.net). My update manger advised my of this route to acquire support. I submitted a bug report for this problem using my terminal window and typing: ubuntu-bux linux
This appears to have generated a bug report that was sent but I am not sure if you will get it. Thank you

Sorry for the typos. Thank you for any assistance anyone may be able to provide. Is Canonical Ltd. part of linux? I hope so. Thanks!
