Bug Description

When using the command "alsactl store 0" to store the details of a sound card, errors are received if used with sudo, informing the user that "/home/(whoever) not ours" - the command also fails if used without sudo, giving the error "alsactl: save_state:1547: Cannot open /var/lib/alsa/asound.state for writing: Permission denied"

This is only the default response since oneiric, the feature concerned worked well in Natty and prior to this, I have not seen this response from alsactl.

All the users I've seen so far (myself included) have all been on 11.10

I have confirmed this error with a user at #kubuntu-devel on freenode, who has also tried this.

The relevant package version is: alsactl version 1.0.24.2
