Bug Description

On clicking Shut Down in the drop down from indicator-session (at least I think that is what it is) then a dialog should appear giving the option of restart or shutdown and others. No dialog appears. Nothing seems to happen for about 30 seconds then the shutdown proceeds. I expected to find a message in one of the logs but could see nothing obvious.

Further information.
I initially saw the problem using Unity-2d. If I use 3d then I still do not see the dialog, but there is no 30 second delay before starting the shutdown.
Whether using 2d or 3d if I click the power button on the PC then the dialog appears and when I select shutdown it shuts down immediately.

On further investigation I think that the Unity-2D issue is not related to this problem and that this problem applies equally to 2 and 3D.

I also realise that I am not seeing confirmation dialogs when I request a logout. It simply logs out immediately.

I have three machines running 11.10 and two of them exhibit the symptom and one does not. All up to date.

Thank you for your bug report, does it happen in a guest session? Could you add a .xsession-errors from a session having the issue? Could you run "gsettings get com.canonical.indicator.session suppress-logout-restart-shutdown" and copy the value there?

Ah, I think this bug is of my own making and is invalid. I think suppress-logout-restart-shutdown used to have a subtly different meaning in that it disabled the 60 second delay on shutdown and I had set it for that reason. I see now that it worked by disabling the dialog. The two machines I see the problem on are an upgrade and a new install, but keeping the home partition, and this flag is set on both of those.
Sorry for the noise.
Marking the bug as invalid.
