empathy automatically closes within few seconds after login

Empathy closes after I logged in my account. If I tried to open the application again, it will again closes. So I'm not able to check who is on line. I restarted my system and tried again. The same problem happens again. I didn't met this problem in ubuntu's previous releases. Now I'm in Oneiric Ocelot.

i'm also having the same problem... after upgrading to 11.10 from 11.04.
I thought it was some problem in upgrading. SO i installed a fresh copy after downloading the iso image from the server.
But i'm facing the same problem again...

It only happens to me when I try to connect with GTalk. When I connect with Windows Live Messenger, it works fine. But, always that I turn the GTalk account enabled, Empathy starts to close everytime I try to open the contact list window, although Empathy keeps running because if somebody send me a message, I can talk in the chat window normally.

is this reproduiceable ?
if so than define the steps to reproduce it?
attach the Mission control log with the bug ?
you can get it from the help ==> debug menu
