[Vostro 3750] external HDMI does not display desktop with Intel vide driver loaded

Bug Description

Doing cert testing on a Vostro 3750. The Intel graphics card is currently in use. When I plug an external monitor into the VGA port on this machine, the system sits for many seconds before compiz crashes and then the external monitor shows the extended desktop.

When connecting an external monitor to the HDMI output, however, the monitor power light changes color, indicating that it's getting some sort of signal (and the "No Signal" message box goes away) but no desktop ever appears on the external display.

This is one hybrid video with HDMI wired to the nVidia card
