Probably related to this bug....

I have a web app that closes the browser window when it is done. If this window is minimized while it closes Unity gets really confused about the state of which Chrome windows are minimized and which are open. Unity probably has a list of minimized Chrome windows - when the script inside of the Chrome window closes the window while minimized, it appears that Unity's window tracking list gets out of sync with the Chrome windows thus confusing their state of being open or minimized.

I believe this was also working correctly in Natty but I'm not 100% sure. It is definitely broken in Ocelot.

thanks for your bug report. Is that still an issue in Ubuntu 12.04? Can you please test that and let us know?

Still broken.

Version 19.0.1084.56
Ubuntu Precise

Open multiple windows in Chrome. Minimize them.
Click on Chrome icon in Unity sidebar.
Note that most of the min-preview windows are white, blank squares.

Get annoyed. Play window roulette until you find the one you are looking for.

This may be related to Chrome's
Appearance: "Use system title bar and borders"

If I turn that option on I couldn't get the problem to happen in my limited testing. But with it off I was still able to get the white squares on Precise.

Please attach a screenshot of the problem so that we could be sure if its a duplicate of an already reported bug.

All four of these previews should have web pages in them.

This is four open Chrome windows that were minimized. Then I clicked on the Chrome icon in the Unity bar to see the previews of the minimized windows.

Intel on one machine, ATI on another. Both have the problem. Both are using stock Ubuntu video drivers.

So it only happens when "Use system title bars and borders" is UN-checked?

since minimized window previews are part of Unity code I am not quite sure if compiz should be added as affects or not.

Hi,
I think I'm having the same problem, as well as another related one.
1) I see similar, but slightly different behavior with the preview:
"Use system title bar and borders" *checked* -- preview broken sometimes.
"Use system title bar and borders" *unchecked" -- preview broken sometimes.

2) The other problem: After being minimized, the window comes up all white except for the title bar. It doesn't re-render the screen until it's resized. This is really annoying, but I don't know if should be considered part of the same bug. There's another bug in Chromium that sounds somewhat like this, but maybe not exactly the same either (https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=340138)
"Use system title bar and borders" *checked* window restores as blank white window.
"Use system title bar and borders" *unchecked* window restores properly
