Enable HW video decoding support is needed only in mesa. Need to add additional mesa configure params:
--enable-gallium-g3dvl --with-gallium-drivers=i915,i965,nouveau,r300,r600,svga,swrast --enable-xvmc --enable-vdpau --enable-va

No changes in xorg drivers are needed.

Bryce Harrington, can you enable this compile option in xorg-edgers?

Please send a request for this feature to the debian bug tracker filed against the mesa package, I don't plan on implementing it in an incompatible way in xorg-edgers without it being done there first because I have no way to even test/verify anything done if I did. Alternatively, patches are welcome and I can discuss it with the debian X guys. It's not as simple as just enabling a configure flag at build time, new package names have to be agreed upon and license issues must be discussed.
