Bug Description
We have the ability to add arbitrary pieces of data in the extensions framework but the api doesn't support this. The API only allows params passed in that it knows about and will reject others. The proposed solution is to have the request_param checking create a dictionary of any other params passed in and provide those to the net/port create() calls via a **kwargs argument.
