Xorg does not start with i915 driver with Ubuntu 11.10 beta2

Bug Description

On normal boot Xorg says 'no screens found' (see log attached); if booting with i915.modeset=0 and reloading i915 module with modeset=1 from VT, startx starts X session successfully.

The problem seems to be in startup scripts, not stopping plymouth before xdm loads; if I manually stop plymouth, X starts up properly.
With lightdm I see continuous X restarting, but that's another bug, not related to this.

I notice there's not been further comments to the bug report since the
release came out, would you mind updating us on the status of it in the
release?

Are you still able to reproduce the issue? If not, do you think the bug
report can be closed, or do you think we should continue tracking it?
