Bug Description

I installed from 3 different isos with the same result, sep-15 sep-29 and sep-30.
the install is going good untill it tries to start x, comes up with a message
that it can't start gdm and it will be disable until I fix it. typing startx it
comes up with an error about module v41 and most important can't find screens.
going into xf86config and it's using default screen and all seems o.k. no matter
what i try it just won't startx!

What we'll need are copies of your /var/log/XFree86.0.log and /etc/X11/XF86Config-4

If you've modified XF86Config-4 at all, please describe your modifications, and
send the original unmodified file if you have it.

Can you try commenting out the dri section in your config?
It looks like that for some reasons the server cannot load that specific module.

dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 but still no good :(

Ok tagging the bug as LATER. The card is not supported by the nv free driver
maintained by nvidia itself.

The only two options are to use either the VESA driver or the NVIDIA binary
driver that you can download
from nvidia.com.
