I have tested your scenario at my end.
I did not faced any problem with new web client.

If you still face the same problem then please update us with the more
information.

I have checked with following revision :

 Trunk :

   New web Client : 1202
     Server : 3749
     addons : 5342

can you try in a new db sith only CRM installed

I create a new db, clicked on the 'install' button of CRM in static page. Tried to change color and had no error.

Could you record a video showing the problem with the database installation steps ?
