Bug Description

After recent updates in Oneiric Beta, I lose all keyboard input after logging in. (Keyboard input works in LDM, and will work in a recovery session, but as soon as I log in to Unity or Unity 2D, the computer will not respond to any keyboard input.) I can't switch to a TTY terminal, Ctr+Alt+Backspace and Ctr+Alt+Delete don't work...no keyboard input whatsoever. If I switch to a Guest Session (using the GUI) and then switch back to my account, however, the keyboard will then work. Of course, if Unity/Compiz aren't working, there is nothing I can do but use the power button to restart the computer.

Following a suggestion in an older post, I tried renaming /run/udev to /run/udev.old, and deleting all files in /run, but neither seemed to help. Apparently that problem was fixed by an update in July, but I experienced this problem for the first time in the last day or so.

Oops, my mistake. I made a script to disable my touchpad and set it run on startup:

xinput set-prop 11 "Device Enabled" 0

But the id for my touchpad keeps changing, I guess based on whether I have my USB mouse plugged in or not, making 11 the id for my keyboard instead of my touchpad.

Changed in xserver-xorg-input-evdev (Ubuntu):
