Big delay when i am in a game and i try to set fullscreen mode or change resolution

I have ubuntu 11.10 64bit beta and i have a problem in all games when i select fullscreen mode or change resolution, there is a big delay before those settings could apply , a big delay and a cropped sound i wait about one minute and then everything works ok.

For example i'm on sauerbraten and select fullscreen i must wait about one minute or more?
Or when i try to change resolution i should wait some time again !
