Ctrl-Z Don't undelete a message

Bug Description

Delete a message in Mozilla Thunderbird.
Type Ctrl-Z
The message should "Undelete" but does not.

This is not likely Thunderbird's fault, but rather likely rests with something in the Window manager or Gnome.

Similarly under Firefox the Backspace key does not give the Firefox behavior of going back one page in it's history.

The Undelete function does work from the menu.
     "File" -> "Undelete Message"

Thanks!

I've had this problem a couple of times. Just had it again and currently using version 1.5.0.10 (20070221).

I find the solution is to shut down Thunderbird, delete the Inbox.msf and then allow Thunderbird to re-create it. Obviously back the old one up somewhere rather than deleting it and to avoid losing mail I also move all of the Inbox messages I want to keep into a new, temporary folder while I do it.

Anyway the problem is exactly as Joe says, Ctrl-Z just doesn't respond after deleting a message.

I don't know of any "File" -> "Undelete Message".

"Edit" -> "Undo Delete Message" doesn't respond for me when I have this problem, they both either work or don't.

Cheers,
Nigel

This problem was caused by having an incorrect Keymap.

If you have a similiar problem you might look into:
System -> Preferences -> Keyboard -> Layouts

I access my desktop from a thin client. I found after messing around with this control pannel that Gnome asked me on boot up whether I wanted to use the X Keymap or Gnome's settings. I chose X's settings and the problem went away.

Is this still a problem for you Nigel? Does Joe's solution work for you?

Hi Freddy,

No this wouldn't do it for me. Firstly I'm on XP not linux and secondly
it's a problem that comes and gos, most of the time it works fine and
has worked for some time now. Seems to be related to regular
compacting/large, high throughput msf file. Deleting the msf and
restarting usually fixes it.

Cheers,
Nigel
