Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

I have the same problem. I upgraded from 11.04 to 11.10 and now I can't log on with my user. It doesn't matter if I choose "Ubuntu", "Ubuntu 2d" or "XFCE". Screen turns black for a second and returns to log on screen.

Other users still work though.

I attached ~/.xsession-errors and /var/log/lightdm/

Hi Walldorf,

I had to downgrade my OS back to 11.04, therefore I cannot contribute to this bug anymore.
If you cannot add the files in here, you can send them via email to <email address hidden>,
or you could just reply to the notifications you receive into your email account.

Cheers.

I also uploaded the lightdm log files. Maybe this will help...
Although I think now, it was unnecessary to file a new bug (sorry)
