3) What is expected to happen in Impress via the Terminal:

cd ~/Desktop && wget https://bugs.launchpad.net/df-libreoffice/+bug/869839/+attachment/2522042/+files/MissingImage.odp && loimpress --nologo MissingImage.odp

File -> Export as PDF -> General tab -> under Images, radio button Lossless compression selected -> under General, checkbox PDF/A-1a checked -> Export and open PDF in Adobe Reader is it looks the same.

4) What happens instead is the image is missing.

+ Occurs in Ubuntu 11.04 32-bit LibreOffice 3.3.4 (official Ubuntu version), and 3.4.2.

+ Reproducible with:

ODP for image export testing

LibreOffice in Ubuntu 11.04 32-bit doesn't export some images contained in slides when exporting to PDF. Attached is an example odp file with one slide. LibreOffice 3.3.4 (official Ubuntu version), and 3.4.2 version from official site also, exports slide without image. On the other hand, OpenOffice 3.3 on Linux/Windows exports slide correctly.

Steps to reproduce bug:
1. Open attached MissingImage.odp file in LibreOffice 3.3.4/3.4.2 in 32-bit Ubuntu 11.04
2. Export to PDF
3. Image is missing in PDF

The problematic picture from the document

I do not see the problem with another EMF/WMF document, so it is somehow related to the particular one => it can't block the whole release => lowering the severity a bit.

As a workaround, you might use the picture in another file format, for example, .eps, .svg, .png.

Rodo, you might be interested into this bug.

BTW: The picture seems to be in the EMF and not in the WMF file format. I was not able to insert it into presentation with the .wmf file name extension. It helped to rename it to .emf. Unfortunately, it did not solve the PDF export problem.

Well, the problem is that original document contains 10-20 images which don't show in LibreOffice PDF export (I just extracted one slide). And the original document was made in OpenOffice and export feature worked (and still works). Which means, it got broken somwhere during LibreOffice development. I will try to re-insert images again, but I don't have the original format (they were made in some Win program, I don't know which, maybe Visio).

This bug was filed before the changes to Bugzilla on 2011-10-16. Thus it
started right out as NEW without ever being explicitly confirmed. The bug is
changed to state NEEDINFO for this reason. To move this bug from NEEDINFO back
to NEW please check if the bug still persists with the 3.5.0 beta1 or beta2 prereleases.
Details on how to test the 3.5.0 beta1 can be found at:

I just tested MissingImage.odp (file that I sent for original bug report) in LO 4.1.3.2, Build ID: 410m0(Build:2) and export works as it should. Nice!

However, I tried the just posted twopages.odp, and when I try to export it to pdf, I always get this error dialog box:

Error saving the document twopages:
Write Error.
The file could not be written.

no matter where I tried to save.

Dong Siwei, this problem is already fixed in Trusty. If you are using a prior release where this bug is still reproducible, you would want to first see if the following PPA would work for you -> https://launchpad.net/~libreoffice/+archive/ppa .
