I does not happen every time, If there are any specific steps to reproduce this problem those will be very helpful for us to get it fixed in Ubuntu.

I can consistently reproduce this bug as follows:

1. Open a terminal window.
2. Maximize it.
3. Minimize it.
4. Switch to workspace 2 (ctrl-alt-right)
5. Middle click terminal launcher to open a new window.
6. Left click terminal launcher to show spread.

The window from workspace 1 now shows the white rectangle.

OK, you are right it only happens when I minimize a maximized firefox window.

I tried somewhat more and it seem to behave this way for Firefox and Chrome:

Firefox
- minimize a maximized window -> always white rectangle
- minimize a smaller window -> never white rectangle

Chrome
- minimize a maximized window -> always white rectangle
- minimize a smaller window -> every second try white rectangle
