Bug Description

In Oneiric Beta up to date 4th Oct 2011 in Mouse and Touchpad settings Mouse Pointer Sensitivity seems to do little or nothing, at least when the Acceleration is low. When the accel is high then setting the sensitivity high apparently *reduces* the acceleration.
Using gnome-control-center 1:3.2.0-0ubuntu4

I don't think this is a duplicate. This bug is particularly about the fact that the way to get a fast mouse is to set sensitivity to "low", which is not particularly intuitive. I would expect high sensitivity to correspond to faster, 'jumpier' motions.

Yes it is a duplicate. The key statement in the description is "Sensitivity seems to do little or nothing", bug #20852 says "the "sensitivity" has no effet whatsoever". If 20852 is fixed then this bug will also be fixed, therefore it is the same bug. Note that a bug is an error in the code. This bug may note additional symptoms but that does not make it a different bug.

I'm still having this bug in the 12.04 beta 2, as well as in Oneiric. The mouse sensitivity setting isn't doing anything with either touchpad, mouse, or trackpad (Thinkpad X121e). I therefore have to use acceleration to make it a bit useable, but acceleration is an awful substitute for good speed control.
