Bug Description

Binary package hint: kmail

Kmail crash if you select all mails in a folder and then you try to apply all created filters.
Steps to reproduce:
1-edition menu->select all messages (ctrl + a)
2-contextual menu (right clic) on selected messages-> apply filter -> apply all filters (ctrl + j)

This happens always in all folders I have. The problem doesn'nt appear when selecting manually all messages (holding ctrl key).
I have several filters to classify ubuntu and kubuntu mailing lists and those generated by kmail for antispam with bogofilter.

I have not noticed this problem. I have multiple filters on all mail, and it has not crashed.

I can confirm this on Feisty. ctrl-a and then applying all filters crashes Kontact, selecting all e,ails individually via ctrl-clicking, and then again applying all filters does not crash.

Just fixed with latest kdepim package uploaded.
Bug has been reopened, which I don't understand since several people from kubuntu tested the fix and it seems to work...

Sorry, the problem is back on Kubuntu Beta with KMail 3.5.6-0ubuntu6.
It randomly crashes applying filters (CONTROL+J) to all selected e-3.5.6-0ubuntu6mails (CONTROL+A). Backtrace attached.

Now it is worse. KMail also crash selecting messages and deleting them, not just applying filters. I think it will crash in all operations selecting many messages but I still didnt tested everything to confirm this.

You may try using KDE 3.5.7 from kubuntu.org - there have been quite a lot of IMAP related fixes.

Sorry, my mistake. I forgot to mention the version of KMail that I'm using. It is 3.5.7-0ubuntu1~feisty1 from kubuntu.org :-)
This version doesn't fix these problems.

I don't think this is necessarily IMAP related. It happens here with POP3. Has anybody had success with KDE 3.5.7?

I don't have any problem here... Kmail 1.9.7 kde 3.5.7.

I'm using the package 3.5.7-0ubuntu1.

I did select all mail in the inbox and choose apply all filters. Did not experience any crash.

Could you please repeat the process several times and confirm if the problem occurs?
Sometimes it works here, but only sometimes. I mean, if I repeat the process 5 times I get crash at least on 2.

Hello,

doing it 3 times did effectively crash kmail.

Kmail 1.9.7 kde 3.5.7

Selecting all messages with the shift key and ctrl-j crashes kmail, it doesn't happen if I select them with ctrl key.

But I have something weird, after each crash the folder has more emails than it had before the crash, they look like duplicates of my previous emails and mostly they are corrupted in some way, if I select one of them, the subject title, sender and date changes to 'unknown'. Sometimes the original emails remain uncorrupted but mostly do not.

I have run this crash many times in different folders and I successfully lost most of my emails, did someone else get something like this? I'm attaching a crash trace.

m4v3r1ck, the upstream bug seems to cover this crash.
Just a note for everybody: please install kdepim-dbg, so the backtraces are more useful: they will contain line numbers and other useful information to trace this problem down.
Thank you.
