Bug Description

I use the Canonical LDAP server. Every time I send an email, I get this error.

Steps to reproduce:
1. click New to compose a new email
2. type an address (eg, my own). at this point the GUI hangs for a bit
3. when gui unhangs, tab to Subject, type something in
4. send the email

at this point I get the crash.
