Error reading boot cd

Loading isolinux: Disk error 20, AX + , Drive EF

have tried downloading another ISO and burn it to cd and still get this??

any suggestions, innuendos?

Thanks for your bug report but we need more information.

What version of Ubuntu are you using(Dapper, Edgy, Feisty)? What version of the ISO (LiveCD, Alternate)? Etc.

Using x86_64 Xubuntu livecd I get this error. Specs: 8GB RAM, 2 Quad 2.0 Xeons.

Specifically, this happens after the menu loads, and I choose an option. There is a dialog box that pops up. Title: "I/O error"; Message: "Error reading boot cd"; button: "reboot".

The "Loading isolinux: Disk error 20, AX =4200 , drive EF" appears at the top of the screen in green lettering.

Same type of error here, green lettering, then Message: "Error reading boot cd"; button: "reboot".

i was burning the iso for the ubuntu 7.10 for a live cd. but when i go to boot it up, it shows the options but no matter what i press the following displays...

I/O ERROR
Error reading boot cd
REBOOT

i try downloading different ways and even used a different download and the same seems to happen..what is the reason why i cant get by the options screen?

also i am on a hp pavilion a305w with the neccessary specs for use. i have windows xp installed on the system.
when i look at the objects installed everything seems to be in its place. I have it burned on a 700mb 80 min cd-r.

ok...this is an update...since i could not figure it out i decided to go to the boot prompt and did and got this.

boot:live cd=irqpoll
answered.......
disk error 80,ax=4200,drive 9f

any help is much appreciated...thanks

I have always wanted to learn how to fix computers. I have had to buy 3 different computers in the last 4 years. On each occasion, my computer has had several different kinds of bugs and viruses that I couldn't fix. If I had known how to fix computers, I could have just fixed it on my own and I wouldn't have had to pay for new computers.
