Bug Description

Binary package hint: synaptic

I installed Herd 4 from an alternate i386 CD downloaded 2/19/07

I clicked on System, Control Center, Shared Folders

A box pops up asking to install NFS and/or SMB. When I clicked OK, the system asks for the CD to be inserted into the CD rom drive. However even after putting the CD back in the drive, an error message keeps popping up asking for Feisty Fawn 7.04. So it never installs NFS; eventually you have to close the box and give up.

Thanks for your bugreport.

Can you please attach the file /etc/fstab and the output of:
$ ls -l /dev/cdrom

I suspect your cdrom device chagned from /dev/hd? to /dev/scd0 because of the new kernel in feisty.

Thanks for your bugreport.

This problem is fixed in my local tree and the fix will be part of the next upload. The fstab will be rewriten during the upgrade so that the cdrom entry points to /dev/cdrom

Cheers,
 Michael
