Bug Description

PROBLEM

Unity basically works out of the box, but changing screen edge triggers for any action in Compiz Config messes it up. When I selected triggers for the Scale plugin, they didn't work until after I'd restarted. And after changing the screen edge to trigger the Unity launcher (and then changing it back), even after a restart it didn't work.

Currently only the left edge triggers the launcher, even though the screen edge selected is the upper-left, and mousing into the upper-left corner does not invoke the launcher at all.

HOW TO REPRODUCE

1. Change screen edge settings in Compiz Config, including the Unity settings.
2. See if they work after closing Compiz Config.
3. Change the Unity settings back to their default.
4. Restart the computer.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

Compiz Config won't be messed up, and it and Unity will play nicely together.

Hy!

I also have a problem when I configured edge triggers in compizconfig, but they are refuse to work after login, until I run comiz --replace. Is this related or should be reported separately?

Hi u-foka,
I faced the same problem as you mentioned, I think. And I have reported as Bug #869759.

I have 3 screen corners (top-right, and both bottom ones) set in CCSM.

Out of them the bottom-right one does sometimes (but only seldom) work and it triggers the desktop selection as I have set it to (same as Super+S). I cannot predict when it will and when it will not work.

I do not remember the other two corners that are set to show all windows from one desktop or all windows from all desktops (such as Super+W) would ever work since the Oneiric update.

IMHO besides CCSM not really working, Unity should have its own simple settings dialog that would include these basic mouse commands, so one would not have to use the plugin labyrinth called CCSM at all...

It might be worth noting that in Natty the corners did not always work either, but they worked more often.

On the last precise build the problem persists . Edge bindings don't work until I restart unity .
