Bug Description
This happens with ALL video files of many different formats and encoded with a lot of different codecs (h264, mjpeg, mpeg4, flv, ....), but not all files. In ALL applications (different video players, video editing applications), when playing back video, it is displayed with wrong colors (everything looks bluish).
IMPORTANT: even some videos that looked fine a few weeks ago are played with the messed up colors now. So it is definitely a regression in some recent update of some package that got updated automatically.
However, when video previews and still frames are shown, they always are display correctly. The funny thing is that video is processed correctly, that is, whatever video editing application I use to read, process, and output the video, the resulting video is OK if I take it to another machine. All programs display it wrongly but process it correctly, so it is not a problem with the codecs. If I extract images from videos, for example, they are OK.
The only application that shows the video correctly when playing is Avidemux.
All the following applications play back the video with wrong colors:
- Gnome MPlayer
- Movie Player
- VLC
- Pitivi
Thumbnails in Nautilus are shown correctly, and even in the above programs, frame previews in the timeline and thumbnails are shown correctly.

Ok it's this issue http:// www.wiredrevolu tion.com/ ubuntu/ fix-blue- tinted- video-in- ubuntu
However, note that the "recommended" version of the NVidia drivers (which is supposed to fix the issue) is not recommendable at all, it is completely screwed up, so it is not an option.
