This is most probably a duplicate of bug 861125. Please follow the instructions there. If you do not see the hp-systray icon any more, do a complete system update (to apply fixes of other bugs concerning hp-systray) and then log out and log in again. Then click the icon and choose "Quit" and in a terminal window run "LIBOVERLAY_SCROLLBAR=0 hp-systray". Now you should be able to open the settings window and also the HP Toolbox by clicking the appropriate menu entries without a crash.

If hp-systray crashes immediately after login, not showing the icon at all, kill all "hp-systray" processes (which are displayed by "ps auxwww | grep hp-systray") and after that, run "LIBOVERLAY_SCROLLBAR=0 hp-systray". Do you get the icon now? Does it stay? Can you start the HP Toolbox and open the Settings window by clicking the appropriate menu entries?

Can everyone please do all updates on his Oneiric box, log out and log in again and see whether the problem is gone now?
