Bug Description

Binary package hint: eclipse

In Eclipse's wizards (e.g. "New Java Project" or "Export JAR File"), the "Finish" button is usually highlighted with a colored border which almost screams "Click Me". Because of old habits, I usually click Finish when I meant to click Next. Instead of letting me fully set up a task, this makes me exit the task early, before I am finished setting all options. I suspect there are many more people who do the same thing.

I propose that the "Next" button in wizards, not the "Finish" button, be made the default. This will make *that* button be highlighted with a colored border. This will encourage people to go fully through wizards and see all the options available. It will also prevent accidental clicks of the Finish button.

Thanks for reporting this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better.

I can confirm this on Hardy.

I don't know if I should support this request. In Ubuntu 9.10 (karmic) the "Finish" button is highlighted, but it does screams "Click Me" (screen shot attached).

Do you still want to have the default button changed?

Hi

Upstream has declared that this is "expected behavior" and have no intention of changing this (see [1]). I am closing this report on the Ubuntu side as we do not have interest in differing from upstream with this (using as invalid, as it was the most appropriate I could find).

If you still want this changed, you should convince upstream.
