Bug Description

I cannot log into other ubuntu's in my private network without adding these computers to the hosts file. When it cannot resolve the ip to name it doesn't work.
This is very annoying and IMHO not necessary.

I now use avahi names as a workaround. Still this is a weird behaviour.

After some testing with indirect XDMCP, I found out this is actually caused by #bug 234543
Workaround is changing the 127.0.1.1 line in /etc/hosts to the actual IP address of the XDMCP server.

Ok closing the bug since it depends on the network configuration.
