installed espeakedit and as it advises copied /usr/share/espeak-data to ~
Run the application and it reports this error:

there appears to be an updated version of espeakedit, the important thing is that espeak and espeak edit should be version matched http://espeak.sourceforge.net/test/latest.html

in Natty, espeak is Version: 1.44.05-1ubuntu1
espeakedit is Version: 1.43.03-1

to get espeakedit working against the espeak in natty then it would need to be upgraded to 1.44

oneiric has espeak 1.45.04-1ubuntu1 so would need the corresponding latest espeakedit to make it work

For me (Kubuntu Oneiric) espeakedit gives the error:
