Bug Description

TEST CASE:
1. Open a system monitor (top, htop) and sort by CPU usage
2. Click on the sound indicator to open the sound menu

Result:
unity-panel-service jumps to the top of the list. It uses even more CPU when a music player is on.

I see the same thing with the same version of unity-services, 4.16.0-0ubuntu2.

As long as the sound menu in dropped-down, unity-panel-service CPU use goes up to max and my processor temperature reaches levels I've never seen it reach before.

I don't know if it could possibly be related to the apps I have listed in the sound menu: Banshee, Rhythmbox and Spotify.

I have some more information. The problem only occurs when one of the music players (Banshee or Rhythmbox) is currently displaying song information in the sound menu (track name and album art). When they are not (ie are closed or have just been opened) the sound menu can be accessed without the 100% CPU use.

The bug occurs regardless of whether or not the application is playing or paused.
