text labels disappear in window overlay after a while

After some time, the text labels below each window on the window overlay mode stop appearing. Once this occurs, then I get the following error each time I activate the window overlay mode

also just to note, after restarting gnome-shell, these errors disappear and the text on the window overlay mode works for a short time (usually about 1 hr, but can be more or less than that)
