Thanks for your reply!

1-2.) Happens on a live cd too, just open a folder with more than a few files. (Just found out that sometimes the problem doesn't come right up with folders containing only a few items.)
3.) Bugged in every view mode, but only the file list. The sidebar works fine.

I'm using unity, but I also checked in gnome shell and gnome classic with no effects.

Tried on my notebook, on my PC and I also checked it in a virtual machine few minutes ago.

Hope this could help catching the bug

@Jancis
I can't confirm that. Oneiric does not include the scim package by default, installing it completely disables quick find in every applications.

The reported issue only affects nautilus, everything else is working as intended.

I've noted an interesting behavior of this bug.

As reported the quick search box disappears immediately after typing 1-2 characters. However, it will start functioning properly when opening a new nautilus window (with Ctrl+N), but it doesn't start to work when opening a new tab.

An update today fixed the disappearance of the text box, yet tere is another issue. Steps to reproduce:

- Clik "file system" to browse from /
- navigate to usr/share/applications

usr<enter>share<enter>appli

Upon <enter>, the text search remains open, still containing the text usr. It is not possible to continue typing to select "share", as nautilus is looking for "usrshare".

Pressing <esc> makes the textbox disappear, but does not clear it: when typing, it reappears, still containing the text "usr".

Help - About gives me "Nautilus 3.2.1"
