Bug Description

For the past 2 weeks, the Ubuntu 11.10 beta has not awoken from suspend correctly on a Thinkpad T61 (nvidia). On wake from suspend, the screen background has static multicolored "noise" pixels and opaque white blocks stairstepped across it. The menu bar and launcher display correctly. But dialog boxes drawn over the main desktop have the noise (or are partially obscured if behind the white blocks).

This didn't occur when I was using the alpha release.

The symptom changed with the updates of 2011-09-28. The background is now correct on wake from suspend, but the launcher contains the "noise" stipple. But this is a better failure mode, since it is easy to cause the launcher bar to be redrawn.

Confirm same issue after suspend on 11.10: login screen is black/white lines. Can still login, but the dock is temporarily blurred.
